How to move off Devin

The durable work is already on your SCM. Devin cannot create new GitHub repositories. Leaving is mostly uninstalling an app and deciding which harness runs the next ticket.

The steps

  1. 01

    Confirm every useful branch exists on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps. Session filesystem changes do not write back to Devin's org snapshot.

  2. 02

    Pull session messages and attachments from the Devin v3 API if you need the transcript. Archive sessions you want to keep readable. Terminated sessions cannot be resumed unless archived.

  3. 03

    Unlink personal GitHub under Settings → Connections. Uninstall the Devin GitHub App at github.com/settings/installations.

  4. 04

    Email privacy@cognition.ai for access, portability, or deletion. Paid plans can opt out of training. The DPA says subprocessors delete customer data within 30 days of termination unless law blocks it.

  5. 05

    Connect the same repository to Rush Cloud (or to Claude Code on the web, Codex cloud, or Cursor). Run one Task. Review the PR.

If the next Task should run Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode, connect the same GitHub repo to Rush and start one Task. Do not import Devin session history. Start from the branch that already exists.

Questions people actually ask

Will Rush import Devin Knowledge and Playbooks?

No. Put durable instructions in the repo (AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, Project Skills). That is the portable form.

Is there a one-click export?

Not in official Devin cloud docs retrieved 15 September 2026. The CLI --export flag writes ATIF after each local turn. The v3 API lists cloud messages and attachments.
