Rush Cloud vs Claude Code on the web

Both run Claude Code in an isolated cloud VM and can open a GitHub PR. Anthropic's product is Claude-only and still a research preview. Rush is a collaborative Project that also runs Codex and OpenCode.

Isolated cloud sandboxes
The short answer

Stay on Claude Code on the web when Anthropic should host a Claude-only session. Use Rush when the session is a team Project or the next Task is not Claude.

Decision

When each side wins

Rush Cloud wins when

  • Tomorrow's Task is Codex or OpenCode.
  • Two people need to steer the same session under Project membership.
  • You want a needs_review state when the PR cannot be proved.

Claude Code on the web wins when

  • You want Anthropic to host Claude Code and nothing else.
  • claude --cloud / --teleport is already the team's muscle memory.
  • You accept research-preview limits, including ZDR exclusion.

When both

  • A developer can teleport a Claude web session locally and still dispatch the next Task on Rush. The harness is the same.

Rush Cloud

Where Rush sits

Claude Code on the web is the genuine harness on Anthropic infrastructure. Rush runs that same harness on Rush infrastructure, next to Codex and OpenCode.

Honest limits

Skip Rush if

  • You need a team that already runs Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode. Rush does not invent a fourth harness.
  • Sandboxes are us-west-2. Customer VPC is roadmap. A signed compliance report is not something we publish today.
  • Compute is metered. Sixty minutes are included per user per calendar month. The invoice bills sandbox time after that allowance.
  • You will review the PR. Rush does not merge for you.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Can I use Rush and the vendor cloud side by side?

Yes. Many teams keep Claude Code on the web or Cursor Cloud Agents for a single-vendor loop and put Rush on the tasks that need a shared Project, a second harness, or a trajectory they can hand to a reviewer.

Does Rush replace Claude Code or Codex?

No. Rush runs those binaries. You keep the seat or the key. Rush is the runtime.

Where does the code go when I leave?

Anything pushed to your GitHub remote stays there. That is the off-ramp on every product in this set, including Rush.

Which one is 'real' Claude Code?

Both. Official Anthropic docs describe the web product as Claude Code in an Anthropic VM. Rush runs the Claude Code binary on a Rush sandbox. The difference is the runtime and the other two harnesses.
