Claude Code on the web alternatives

Anthropic hosts Claude Code in an isolated VM. You connect GitHub, submit a task, and review the PR. That page is official docs. This page is the commercial map around it: same harness on Rush, or a different harness on someone else's cloud.

Rush Cloud is our product. We run Claude Code. We also run Codex and OpenCode. This is not an attack on Anthropic's web product.

The short answer

Keep Claude Code as the engine and change only the runtime, or change the engine too.

In depth

Free 5 agent-hours a month, then $20 Pro. 15 September 2026.

Rush Cloud

The same Claude Code harness, with Codex and OpenCode on the next Task.

Both products isolate a VM and open a GitHub PR. Rush adds Project membership, a captured trajectory, and a needs_review state when proof is missing.

Taps out. us-west-2. Metered compute. Three harnesses.

Pro $20 / mo. 15 September 2026.

Cursor Cloud Agents

Leaving the Claude Code CLI for Cursor's Agent in a VM.

This is a harness change, not a hosting change. Cursor Cloud Agents are Cursor's Agent.

Taps out. Paid Cursor plan. Not Claude Code.

ChatGPT Plus $20 / mo. 15 September 2026.

Codex cloud

Teams moving the engine to OpenAI and keeping a cloud box.

Different harness, similar job. Agent phase offline by default.

Taps out. OpenAI only. API-key path has no cloud.

Rush Cloud

What Rush Cloud is

Rush Cloud runs the same Claude Code binary Anthropic documents for the web, plus Codex and OpenCode, inside a Project your teammates can join.

Anthropic's web product is the right default when you want Anthropic to host the VM and you only need Claude. Rush is the default when the session is a team object, or when tomorrow's Task is Codex.

Official Anthropic limits that steer the choice: research preview; GitHub required to push; Zero Data Retention orgs cannot use cloud sessions; user-local ~/.claude does not carry over.

Honest limits

Skip Rush if

  • You need a team that already runs Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode. Rush does not invent a fourth harness.
  • Sandboxes are us-west-2. Customer VPC is roadmap. A signed compliance report is not something we publish today.
  • Compute is metered. Sixty minutes are included per user per calendar month. The invoice bills sandbox time after that allowance.
  • You will review the PR. Rush does not merge for you.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Can I use Rush and the vendor cloud side by side?

Yes. Many teams keep Claude Code on the web or Cursor Cloud Agents for a single-vendor loop and put Rush on the tasks that need a shared Project, a second harness, or a trajectory they can hand to a reviewer.

Does Rush replace Claude Code or Codex?

No. Rush runs those binaries. You keep the seat or the key. Rush is the runtime.

Where does the code go when I leave?

Anything pushed to your GitHub remote stays there. That is the off-ramp on every product in this set, including Rush.

Is Claude Code on the web generally available?

Official docs still say research preview as of 15 September 2026.
